Mulled Wine

Whether you’re looking for a seasonal beverage or hosting a party, there’s nothing better than mulled wine this time of year. The best part of this recipe? It works with port, claret, or non-alcoholic cider. Serve it warm or chilled.

INSTRUCTIONS

1
Start the mulled wine

Add the wine, cider, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves to a large pot. Bring to bare simmer over low heat, without allowing it to come to a boil, and cook for 20 minutes.

2
Add the flavor

Zest the oranges with a peeler (gently peeling only the bright orange skin). Remove the mulled wine from the heat and add the orange zest, port, and orange slices if you’d like.
